Hi! Nice to meet you!
My name is Cheryl. I just took my 44th trip around the sun but I was once a little dreamer.
I grew up loving stories, especially the idea of making my own. But…becoming an author felt like a dream meant for “someday,” so I set it aside for more “practical” plans.
Over the years, I became a parent, built a career in advertising, and helped guide a children’s nonprofit. Still, I itched to do something more.
Now I’m starting a new chapter, one where I’m giving myself the freedom to explore picture book writing, the chance to create the books that I couldn't find for my kids, and the opportunity to pass on family stories. I’m refining my skills, learning the industry, and immersing myself in spaces and conversations that nurture my growth as a writer.
Here’s to following our dreams, later than planned, but right on time. Will you join me on this journey?
Ready to Read?
As a story teller and a parent, I’ve learned that the best stories do more than just entertain - they act as a mirror and a bridge. Whether it's the courage required to embrace your identity, the messy, beautiful work of making your first friend, or the way imagination can turn anything ordinary into an adventure, these are all books I wish I had access to while growing up.
I invite you to explore the three collections I curated that capture these moments:
-
Finding Your Place: Stories of Belonging Inspired by my own experience as a young immigrant and feeling like I didnt belong, these stories are for children who are finding their brave in a world that is far too daunting.
-
Growing Together: Books About Friendship A collection celebrating the art of connection, from the first "hello" to the resilience it takes to include someone new.
-
Imagining Worlds: Stories of Fantasy & Wonder A reminder that as long as you have a little wonder, you can transform your reality into something extraordinary.
-
Navigating Big Feelings: When Life Feels a Little Too Big Big emotions can be overwhelming, for kids and adults alike. This collection features stories that give us a safe way to address those heavy, quiet moments that are often hard to put into words.
-
Kid and Tween Recommended Who knows a great story better than those who are actually reading them? This collection is curated entirely by my kids. These are the stories that have made a lasting impact and earned a permanent spot on our shelves.
-
True North, Strong and Free As a Canadian living in the US, I miss home every day. Becoming a parent made me lean hard on books to keep my kids (and myself) connected to our roots.
